Prenatal Paternity Test
Health Street offers a non-invasive Prenatal Paternity Test Test that is 100% safe for the unborn. Unlike amniocentesis, this test involves zero risk of a miscarriage. Women who are at least 9 weeks pregnant can get this test. The mother will get a blood draw from her arm—no needles go anywhere near the fetus. The alleged father will get a cheek swab.
Scheduling appointments is easy and flexible. Tell us when and where you wish to test, and let us know if the mother and alleged father will test together. The parties can test at the same clinic and at the same time, or separately at different clinics and/or at different times. We'll send you an email with your appointment information. If the times or locations scheduled in your appointment letter don't work for you, we'll make changes at no charge. Register online or call (888) 378-2499.

Can any pregnant woman get this test?
To get a Prenatal Paternity Test, the following conditions must be met: the mother is at least 9 weeks pregnant; the mother must not be expecting multiples, such as twins or triplets; the alleged father participates.
Please note that it is not possible for us to determine paternity between two potential fathers with a close genetic relationship.
Where can I get a prenatal paternity test?
Register for a DNA test online, and our scheduling department will set up your appointment based on your preferences. You can also call us to help you set it up. At your appointment(s), the mother and alleged father both need to bring in legal photo ID. Separate appointments can also be scheduled for an additional fee. It takes about a week to get an appointment, though faster scheduling (within 2 to 3 days) may be available for an additional fee of $100. Once the results are ready, we'll email you the laboratory report, and then we'll put the official hard copies in the regular mail for your records.
Is prenatal DNA testing safe?
Health Street only offers prenatal DNA testing in the form of a non-invasive blood draw from the mother's arm, so the area around the fetus is not affected. This method of prenatal DNA testing is 100% safe for the unborn, making it Health Street's number one choice for getting a DNA test while pregnant.
How does the father provide his DNA sample for prenatal DNA testing?
The alleged father's DNA is collected by a simple cheek swab. For legal, court-admissible DNA test results, the father must have the DNA sample collected from the clinic.
How early can a mother get a Prenatal DNA Test?
A mother must be at least 9 weeks pregnant for a prenatal DNA test.
What are the different types of prenatal paternity tests available?
There are three types of prenatal paternity tests available: amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and non-invasive blood draw.
The non-invasive blood draw is the only type of prenatal paternity test performed by Health Street. The non-invasive blood draw is a simple and safe option, involving drawing blood from the mother's arm and swabbing the alleged father's cheek.
Amniocentesis involves inserting a needle into the fetal area, typically done at 16 to 22 weeks gestation.
CVS involves removing tissue from the fetal area and can be done around 10 weeks gestation.
Why should someone consider getting a prenatal paternity test?
Obtaining a prenatal paternity test can offer individuals peace of mind and clarity during pregnancy. It can eliminate uncertainty and stress surrounding the child's paternity. Studies show that prolonged stress during pregnancy can have adverse effects on fetal health. By opting for a simple and safe blood test, individuals can alleviate concerns about paternity and promote a more relaxed and positive pregnancy experience.

How Prenatal DNA Testing Works
Recently developed advanced techniques have allowed us to identify free floating fetal plasma in the mother's bloodstream. Therefore, we can isolate the DNA of the unborn, and compare it to the father's DNA in order to determine paternity.
Why Get a Prenatal Paternity Test
Numerous studies have shown the long-lasting effects of stress during pregnancy on the future health of the unborn. Now that there is a simple blood test to determine paternity, there is no reason to remain under stress about the child's paternity during your pregnancy.
