Notable News Events in Wilmington, DE
In February 2023, the U.S. Attorney's Office District of Delaware announced the arrest of three Wilmington men for their roles in a multi-state fentanyl and cocaine trafficking operation. The investigation involving the large-scale drug operation first began back in 2022, after a double overdose in a nearby county resulted in the death of a 50-year-old woman.
The drugs were traced to a suspect who traveled from Bronx, NY to Wilmington, DE and surrounding areas to distribute controlled substances to local drug dealers, including the three Wilmington residents. When the suspects were arrested, law enforcement recovered one kilogram of crack cocaine cut with fentanyl, multiple kilograms of fentanyl, and one kilogram of Xylazine, a potent horse tranquilizer that's been linked to an increasing number of overdose deaths nationwide.
