In May 2024, twenty-two individuals in Wichita Falls, Texas, have been federally charged in connection with a large drug trafficking operation. The investigation began in March 2023 when law enforcement learned that two individuals, both linked to the violent Crips street gang, were running a methamphetamine distribution ring in Wichita Falls and Vernon. Over the following months, undercover agents made multiple drug purchases, which were recorded, and searched several suspects' properties.

In total, they seized 7,229 grams of methamphetamine, 719 grams of powder cocaine, 55 grams of crack cocaine, 49.75 grams of fentanyl, 2,197 counterfeit Percocet pills laced with fentanyl, and nine firearms. One defendant even led police on a 9.5-mile chase, discarding meth as he fled. Each defendant faces at least ten years and up to life in federal prison if convicted.
