In 2023, Spokane County, where Spokane is located, reported 190 opioid overdose deaths, which was 22 percent higher compared to the previous year. Altogether, there were 232 overdose fatalities. The majority of these deaths were among people aged 18-44, and 63 percent occurred at home/residence. Most of the overdoses are related to opioids, and many involve fentanyl.
