Washoe County Sheriff, Darin Balaam, spoke about the fentanyl problem in Sparks and Washoe County. "Some are using fentanyl, but many overdoses, they're not using fentanyl," Balaam said. "They think they're using marijuana. They're using some type of pill they bought off the street. But it's laced with fentanyl. So this is unlike any epidemic we've seen. And it is starting to kill people at a pace that we haven't seen." He also said that fentanyl is dangerous because, for some people without a tolerance, a lethal dose of fentanyl could be as small as a grain of salt.
