Local initiatives to curb drug abuse in San Bernardino, California
San Bernardino County Youth Opioid Response (SBCYOR) introduced four goals to achieve in the mission to reduce substance abuse:
SBCYOR connected with the community and healthcare providers to work together on patient risk mitigation. They shared information about recognizing addiction as a chronic medical condition and the signs and symptoms of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). There were also efforts to make naloxone more accessible. SBCYOR formed a coalition with other agencies from the community, which also connected patients to different behavioral counseling services. The coalition continues to reach out to the community through events, trainings, and service announcements.
