In a law enforcement effort titled Operation Caught Cold, federal agents arrested the leader of the G-Shine Bloods gang in Rocky Mount alongside 16 other defendants after a multi-year investigation led to the massive local seizure of illegal substances and firearms.
According to reports, law enforcement collected over 20 firearms, 4,389 dosage units of heroin, and 6,601 dosage units of a fentanyl mixture during this time. Investigators discovered that the Rocky Mount leader would distribute these illegal drugs throughout Nash and Edgecombe County using lower-ranking gang members. To highlight the consequences of fentanyl distribution, prosecutors pushed for a lengthy punishment for the Rocky Mount gang leader, which resulted in a 360-month sentence and a $220,211 restitution payment.
