Renton, Washington, has reported significant issues with fentanyl and its involvement in overdose deaths. In 2021, the fentanyl-involved deaths in King County more than doubled, and the situation in Washington state is even worse. Residents of Washington state took surveys at syringe-service facilities, and the data collected showed that the number of people using synthetic opioids reached 42 percent compared to 18 percent in 2019. According to experts, this is a potentially deadly trend. Even a tiny dose of only two milligrams of fentanyl can be fatal.
In 2020, King County set a record for the highest number of drug and alcohol overdose deaths in the county. A recorded 511 people died. In 2021, King County broke its record again. At least 709 people did not survive drug or alcohol overdoses, and eleven people were still in critical condition when the data was collected.
Major drug bust at Renton's man home: Police seized drugs and guns
SWAT officers worked on the investigation for several months, leading them to seize two dozen guns and large amounts of drugs at Renton's man's home. After serving a warrant at his home, they searched his place and found 24 guns and 13 pounds of drugs. The drugs included fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, XANAX, and suboxone. The suspect is currently in King County Jail on drug and weapon charges.
