Recent trends show a reduction in overdose deaths, largely attributed to the increased availability of Narcan, which has been sold over-the-counter since 2017. As of March 2023, Narcan can be obtained from a wider range of vendors, increasing its accessibility.

Pontiac man arrested for selling fentanyl pills disguised as oxycodone

In March 2023, Pontiac police investigated a 31-year-old man selling fentanyl pills disguised as oxycodone prescription pills. During their investigation, he sold drugs to undercover police officers multiple times. Police got a search warrant and seized over 18,000 tablets of fentanyl, each of which was strong enough to kill a person. The street value of the drugs was about $450,000.
