In July of 2021, a 40-year-old man was arrested in North Huntingdon after being busted for selling heroin. Authorities arranged a buy from the man off Route 30, by some storage units. An undercover officer exchanged $500 for 50 packets of heroin, which was wrapped in a Reese's Pieces package. He was arrested and held at the Westmoreland County Prison.
In August of 2012, an undercover operation in North Huntingdon led to a drug bust. Inside the apartment, officers seized $15,000 in drugs including ecstasy, marijuana, and bath salts, along with cash and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was allegedly using the bath salts to mix with ecstasy. Bath salts have effects comparable to amphetamines, cocaine, and LSD.
In 2004, after going to federal prison, a drug kingpin from North Huntingdon cut a deal and cooperated with federal agents in an ongoing investigation. The 63-year-old man pled guilty the previous year for running an operation that shipped 12,000 pounds of marijuana, over 100 pounds of cocaine and 20 pounds of methamphetamine from Texas, Florida, and California, to Western Pennsylvania. His deal sent him to federal prison for ten years instead of finishing his life in prison.
