Notable Historical Events Related to Drug Use in Metairie, LA

Following a warrant in Metairie, LA in 2016, two men were arrested when officers found a large amount of marijuana and over $74,000 in cash. Officers also seized more than 51 marijuana plants. Charges included drug possession, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of .28 to 200 grams of illegal narcotics, and use of a firearm in connection with drug activity.

In 2006, a Metairie woman was one of four people arrested for attempting to traffic ecstasy through Jefferson Parish. The arrests were made in two separate instances just five days apart. The DEA and parish police made the arrests after witnessing the purchases in both instances. The charges included conspiracy with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy with intent to distribute ecstasy, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm during a sale of a controlled dangerous substance.

In 2019, a man from Metairie, LA was arrested for his connection to a major methamphetamine ring. He was found with over three pounds of methamphetamine, ecstasy, heroin, and cocaine.

In July of 2020, Metairie residents discovered bags of white powder and pills at their doorsteps, driveways, and on their lawns. The bags were thought to be tossed there by a suspect in a police pursuit the night before and contained heroin and prescriptions. The suspect was taken into custody and booked on multiple charges.
