Longview, Texas: Drug abuse trends
Nationally, fentanyl has been responsible for a large percentage of drug overdose deaths. In 2005, methamphetamine was present in 21 percent of all substances identified by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) labs. By 2019, methamphetamine was found in about 50 percent of all substances. Methamphetamine's high availability and low price have caused a significant increase in use.
