Overdose deaths persisted in 2021, with individuals also using animal tranquilizers, MDMA, and dissociative anesthetics. Compounding the issue is the trend of combining different substances, making it increasingly difficult for medical professionals to assist those who overdose.
While administering Narcan is typically the first step, this remedy may prove ineffective when multiple substances are involved. Pinellas County's battle against drug abuse is further complicated by the prevalence of drug mixtures, exacerbating the already prevalent issue of fentanyl abuse that plagues the state and the entire country.
Largo police arrested three people in a drug bust
Largo police took swift action and arrested three individuals, detaining them following an apartment search. The suspects had been utilizing the residence as a drug house, selling highly dangerous substances such as fentanyl and methamphetamine to residents of the community. The police search yielded significant quantities of meth, fentanyl, and cocaine, conclusively linking the suspects to illicit drug-related activities. All three men were charged with possession of a controlled substance and operating a drug house.
