Substance abuse statistics for Folsom, CA
Folsom, California: Drug abuse trends
Folsom, which falls under Sacramento County, has been hit by the opioid epidemic, and one of its most significant struggles is fentanyl use. In 2021, at least 116 individuals in Sacramento County died because of fentanyl poisoning. In the first seven months of 2022, at least another 50 people had already died from fentanyl. Fentanyl is often mixed in other street drugs such as methamphetamine, cocaine, Xanax, marijuana, Adderall, or Percocet. Many people take the drug without even realizing it, leading to potent and life-threatening accidental overdoses.
Sacramento County is actively combating opioid use by creating programs and services that support individuals struggling with substance use disorder. These initiatives include residential treatments, Medication-Assisted Treatment programs, and the establishment of an Opioid Coalition. The County has brought together community-based organizations, county agencies, healthcare professionals, and concerned citizens to collectively address the local opioid epidemic.
