Notable Historical Events Related to Drug Use in Decatur, GA
In January 2023, a series of search warrants led to the arrests of two Decatur men on drug trafficking charges. According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, authorities seized about 3 pounds of methamphetamine, prescription pills, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The two Decatur men faced charges that included trafficking of methamphetamine and first-degree possession of marijuana.
In March 2022, a Decatur woman was arrested after an investigation into multiple overdose deaths that occurred locally. The overdose deaths in Decatur involved illegal drugs, and most of them were fentanyl-related. During the investigation, the Decatur police department's Vice/Narcotics Unit identified the 35-year-old woman and carried out a search warrant in the 600-block of Holland Court. Authorities seized Xanax, methamphetamine, a large amount of fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia inside the residence. The woman faced fentanyl trafficking charges, distributing a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance.
