In 2019, an undercover investigation led to the arrest of four men for purchasing $300,000 of fake cocaine from undercover officers. The investigation was conducted in multiple locations throughout metro Detroit, including Detroit, Dearborn, Wayne, and Canton Township. The investigation began in early March 2019 after officers learned about a Pittsburgh man who was involved in cocaine distribution. After some investigation, an undercover agent met with the men and negotiated a large cocaine sale. He led the agent to a vehicle trunk and opened a duffle bag and a box, which he claimed contained $200,000. He then told the undercover agent that he'd get the other $100,000 after he sees the cocaine. The exchange occurred at a Canton Township hotel, and the arrests were made soon after at a Canton Township gas station.
