In July 2022 in Burbank, CA, a traffic stop led Burbank police officers to seize 100,000 fentanyl-laced pills. An Arizona man, one of two men transporting the pills, was seen urinating outside at a gas station in Burbank by police. When the officers tried to speak to the man, he avoided eye contact and continued walking away. The man got into a car with a Washington license plate, and the two men drove off. The two men violated a Burbank traffic code, failing to stop at a sidewalk, and officers stopped them. The traffic stop led to a vehicle search, where officers found 100,000 fentanyl-laced counterfeit oxycodone pills, 50 rounds of ammunition, and a loaded handgun. The two men were arrested.
