The West Side Journal reported on a large local drug bust in Brusly in July 2020. Local resident Floyd Johnson, Jr. was arrested on July 21 for a traffic violation, and officers recovered methamphetamine, hydrocodone, heroin, MDMA, and other drugs in his vehicle. The arrest prompted an investigation which uncovered that Johnson had operated a drug trafficking business while previously incarcerated in the West Baton Rouge Parish jail.
A search warrant for a residence on Babytown Lane in Brusly uncovered additional heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA, and alprazolam (Xanax) along with other drugs and paraphernalia. Floyd Johnson, Sr. and Floyd Johnson, Jr.'s girlfriend Lauren Alexander were also arrested on warrants related to drug trafficking, possession, and sales.
