News Relating to Substance Abuse in Boulder, CO
In July 2022, four Boulder residents — including two that were currently incarcerated at Boulder County Jail — were charged for their roles in trafficking controlled substances into the jail and distributing them amongst the facility. According to reports, a six-month investigation discovered that methamphetamine-soaked paper and ketamine-soaked photos entered the jail through the mail system and were distributed amongst inmates.
According to the Boulder County Drug Task Force, the investigation began after law enforcement received an anonymous tip that liquid meth was getting into Boulder County Jail via mail. Two suspects charged with the drug distribution were in fact already incarcerated, while the other two suspects were Boulder residents and accomplices aiding in the mailing of the drugs.
