Avuncular DNA Test (aunt/uncle and niece/nephew)

Specimens we can test for DNA

The easiest and most reliable way to obtain a DNA sample for paternity testing is to swab the inner cheeks of the people being tested. These skin cells are known as buccal cells, and they rub off easily onto cotton swabs and remain in place for analysis by our laboratory. Other specimen samples, such as hair follicles, fingernails, and garments that might contain someone's DNA, can also be tested. An Alternative Specimen DNA Test is done by registering online and shipping the specimens to us.

Legally Admissible DNA Tests vs. "Peace of Mind" At-Home Tests

A Legal Paternity Test is a court admissible DNA testing service. Accurate results for DNA paternity testing with 99.99% confidence or greater take about a week.

When deciding which type of DNA test is right for you, consider first what you might do with the results. In order for the results of a DNA test to hold up in court, for child support, or to change the name on a birth certificate, the test must be done at a clinic using strict chain of custody procedures. Our Boise DNA testing technicians are trained to follow guidelines that ensure that the results can be used for legal purposes.

Boise, Idaho - DNA Testing

Establishing paternity in Boise, Idaho

The easiest way to establish paternity in Idaho is by signing an Acknowledgment of Paternity (AOP) when the baby is born. If parents do not sign this form before they leave the hospital, the father's name will not be on the birth certificate.

The second way of establishing paternity is when a parent or a government official files a paternity action with the court. The petitioner will write down the name of the alleged father, and the judge will decide whether the alleged father is the legal father or not. Usually, the judge will ask the man to take a DNA test, and paternity can be established based on the DNA test results.

Idaho man discovers big family after DNA test

A man discovers a big family secret after 66 years. Randall always felt something was different but could not figure out what it was. One day, he took a DNA test and was shocked by the results. He was not related to anyone at all in his family. This was very strange because he had a birth certificate that stated otherwise.

When he searched far and wide for answers, people kept affirming to him that his parents were his biological parents. DNA testing told him otherwise, and he was determined to find the truth. He found a distant cousin, which led to some information about his possible mother. She was likely a nun in the Catholic Church who got pregnant and needed to put Randall up for adoption quickly. From there, his adoptive parents took care of him, for which he said he would be forever thankful.

He said that knowing this full story does not make him love his adoptive parents any less, and he feels no anger. He actually feels relieved and has finally found his peace.

Amazingly Friendly Techs

The front desk lady named Becky was the only bad experience I had while here. She was rude about when I asked her to put on a mask since I have a 5 day old baby with me and doesnt have an immune system. She was very argumentative and gave no care about anyone else there , all other techs had face masks.Other then that the 2 Male techs i had with me and the baby were amazingly friendly and talkative , responsive to questions. They were super nice.
