Local Drug Busts or Events in Atlanta, GA
A 33-year-old man was sentenced to sixteen years in prison and five years of supervised release for leading a drug operation that trafficked substantial amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl within the Atlanta area in November 2023. The man was arrested with three guns, multiple kilograms of methamphetamine, and almost a kilogram of fentanyl. This capture marks a critical hit against drug trafficking in the community.
DEA Special Agent in Charge Robert J. Murphy noted that the removal of this man from the streets ends his dangerous drug distribution. The man was planning to sell large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl, leading to a high-speed attempt to evade capture, during which he discarded a firearm. Subsequent searches of his property in Union City uncovered even more drugs, including 14 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1,500 fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and additional firearms.
