Local Drug Busts or Events

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a collaborative law enforcement operation spearheaded by the DEA and announced by Alexander M.M. Uballez, the United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Towanda R. Thorne-James, the Special Agent in Charge of the DEA's El Paso Division, has led to fifteen individuals being charged with federal drug trafficking offenses. This operation targeted a drug trafficking organization operating within Albuquerque following an intensive DEA-led investigation.

The operation led to the execution of federal search warrants across thirteen residences, resulting in the seizure of approximately 102 pounds of methamphetamine, 21 kilograms of cocaine, 2.8 kilograms of heroin, around 10,000 fentanyl pills, along with 34 firearms (including 8 "ghost guns" that lack serial numbers), and approximately $124,000 in cash.

Before these raids, law enforcement had already confiscated over 20 kilograms of methamphetamine and 10 kilograms of fentanyl during their investigation.

The charges laid against the defendants include conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine, spanning from August 19, 2020, to November 29, 2023.
