DOT Drug Test for Merchant Marines or US Coast Guard
The US Coast Guard is meticulous when it comes to their drug testing requirements. If you are applying for a Merchant Mariner's license, Captain's License, or some other duty covered by USCG regulations, then you need to get a USCG Merchant Marines Drug Test. However, it's not just any test, and you can't just go to any clinic or lab.
Health Street specializes in this test. The requirements are very specific, and the Coast Guard WILL reject you if you fail to meet every single detail of their regulations. I can't tell you how often we get contacted by sailors who tried to get this test done by a clinic who told them, "Sure, we can do that", and they ended up wasting their money and time. I just hung up with a caller right now telling me that same old story, so I decided to write this article to help clarify this, in the hopes of preventing any more people from getting rejected by the Coast Guard because they took the wrong test, had the wrong paperwork, used the wrong lab, didn't have an MRO, etc.
The fact of the matter is that if the clinic looks at you funny, or hesitates for even a second when you mention "merchant marines drug test", then don't use them (unless you are a glutton for punishment).
The USCG Drug Test requirements include:
Health Street has done thousands of these tests. We know how it works, and we get it done right each and every time. So, when you go to submit that paperwork, you can rest assured you will have the right stuff.
