DNA Test and Home Testing Kits
Determining the biological relationship between two people through DNA testing is simple, inexpensive, and more accurate than ever before. Paternity tests are the most common form of DNA testing, but we also offer DNA testing for relationships such as siblings, grandparents, aunts, or uncles.
You can obtain a DNA test at your nearest Health Street collection site, or by using one of our DNA home testing kits. We also offer specialty testing, including post-mortem and prenatal DNA tests. While a cheek swab is the most common method of collecting a DNA specimen for a relationship test, alternatives like hair, semen, or fingernails can also be used. Register for a DNA test online, or find out more, by calling (888) 378-2499.
Types of DNA Testing
Legal DNA Tests
Legal DNA tests provide highly accurate results that are admissible in a court of law, which is an advantage over the home DNA testing options. These tests can establish a legally binding relationship for fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, sibling, children, grandparents, deceased loved ones, the unborn, and twins.
Home DNA Tests
Home DNA test results are just as accurate as professional clinic results. However, the test results from the below options cannot be used for court or for other legal purposes. Home DNA test kits are ideal for those who want to perform testing for their own information or peace of mind. These options can not only save money, but can be completed from the privacy of your own home.
DNA From Other DNA Samples
Alternative DNA tests are available for those who are not available to provide a cheek swab. The easiest to obtain, and therefore the most common source of genetic material for relationship testing, is buccal cells. Buccal cells are the skin cells of the inner cheek, which rub off easily onto cotton swabs. However, if the person not able to get the cheek swab required for this test, then DNA can be extracted from a variety of specimens. Below are some of the other DNA collection methods.
